Reading an extent

Karnataka records often write extent as acres and guntas, for example 3-20, which means 3 acres and 20 guntas, or 3.5 acres.

Compare price per unit

A lower total price can hide a higher rate. Divide the price by the area in one unit before you compare two listings. Land in Coorg shows the price per unit on each listing for this reason.

Check the extent on paper

The area in the advertisement should match the RTC and the survey sketch. If a seller quotes more land than the records show, ask why before going further.
